Dan Werle, the nonchalant revolutionary of the zine Manumission had this to say in 1992,
It’s very sad to think that it really took me a long time to sit down and get myself together to do this because I was so scared of coming forth and offering my voice…to actually come out and say something and have to defend my words or support my arguments.
from Notes from Underground: Zines and the Politics of Alternative Culture by Stephen Duncombe (1997)
I live in Perth, Western Australia and I am the lazyst environmentalyst because I care so much about the world and what we have done to it over time, but I feel I don’t do enough to solve these problems.
Sometimes I agree with French bohemian Théophile Gautier who said in 1836,
It appears to me that the most fitting occupation for a civilised person is to do nothing.
In this blog I write about what I am doing and I hope over time to do more and more to ensure we all have a future. I would love to hear ideas from others about how I could live in a more sustainable way, while still being a lazyst environmentalyst.
I have magnetic letters on my fridge and visitors have to leave a message. Because there are only two of each letter, messages can be a bit weird. Someone left this sweet missive:
Offensive language aside, I thought it was strangely appropriate.
There have been threats on Ayesha the cat’s life written in magnetic letters. It could have been Sheeba the dog, but I have my doubts.

Hey there,
Just plodding around wordpress and I came across your blog. Great Work!
I’m wondering if you’d like to swap links on blogrolls?
My site is at http://www.desmogblog.com

You have an excellent blog Clare. It’s great to read a WA perspective on green living. I will be returning to learn more. :)
Hi Clare
Could you please email me about putting some information on your weblog about Who On Earth Cares?
Have a nice day !
Hello Clare,
I’ve found your blog really interesting. Not sure how I missed it up until now. I’m writing a blog about our house build in Perth. I’d like to say that it is a sustainable build but I think I’d have to drop that to semi-sustainable and trying…it’s a little more complicated given that we are living in New Caledonia..
Two questions: firstly – what were the problems with the gas-boosted side of your dad’s solar hot water system – as we are planning on using this system?
Secondly – I’d be interested in exchanging links.
Look forward to hearing from you.
Hi Clare,
I’ve enjoyed reading the recent few entries in your blog. I write about environment from a more historical and literary perspectives from my base in Freo.
I’ve added a link to your site on my blog.
Cheers,
Tom.
Hello Clare
just to say I enjoyed reading your blog and especially the long post about Dingoes. Altho I live in OZ I am involved in snow leopard conservation but I also spend a lot of time in the Australian bush and care about Australian wildlife conservation too – especially Koalas and whales. I didn’t know any of those things you wrote about dingoes, I’ve always been fascinated about them and have learnt heaps – thanks :-)
